Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Locum GP Tax Calculator is the data controller for personal data collected through this website (https://locumdoctortax.co.uk).

Contact for data protection enquiries: privacy@locumdoctortax.co.uk

We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer, but you may direct any UK GDPR queries to the contact email above.

2. What data we collect and why

Calculator inputs

All tax calculations are performed entirely in your browser. No income figures, expenses, or any inputs you enter are transmitted to our servers. We never see this data.

Expenses tracker (localStorage)

The expenses tracker stores data in your browser's localStorage only — it never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data will erase it.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-first, EU-based analytics platform that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. Plausible records aggregate metrics only (pages viewed, referrer, country). No consent banner is required for Plausible under PECR because it sets no cookies and processes no personal data.

Consent preferences

Your cookie consent choice is stored in your browser's localStorage (key: locum_cookie_consent). It is never sent to our servers.

3. Cookies

Cookie / storage Purpose Consent required?
locum_cookie_consent Stores your cookie consent choice No (essential)
Plausible Analytics Cookie-free analytics — no cookies set No
Google AdSense / DoubleClick Set by Google to serve and measure personalised advertisements. Governed by Google's Privacy & Terms (policies.google.com/privacy). Yes (advertising)

4. Advertising — Google AdSense

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the web.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info .

Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy . Data transferred to Google's US servers is covered by the UK-US Data Bridge adequacy decision.

5. Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK GDPR Articles 15–22 you have the following rights in relation to personal data we hold about you:

  • Right of access (Art. 15) — You can request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16) — You can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17) — You can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to restriction (Art. 18) — You can ask us to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20) — Where we process data by automated means on the basis of consent, you can request it in a portable format.
  • Right to object (Art. 21) — You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing.
  • Rights re automated decisions (Art. 22) — We do not make automated decisions with legal or significant effects on you.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@locumdoctortax.co.uk . We will respond within one calendar month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) .

Note: because we do not collect calculator inputs (they stay in your browser), we hold very limited personal data — principally any analytics data associated with your visit if you consented to GA4.

6. Legal basis for processing

  • Plausible analytics — legitimate interests (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Plausible collects no personal data, so the legitimate-interest balancing test is met without requiring consent.
  • Google AdSense advertising — consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and PECR reg. 6). You may withdraw consent at any time via Google Ads Settings or by declining advertising cookies via the banner on your next visit.
  • Consent preferences — necessary for compliance with our legal obligation under PECR.

7. Data retention

GA4 data is retained for 14 months by default (Google's standard retention period). Consent preferences stored in your browser's localStorage persist until you clear your browser data. We do not store calculator inputs on any server.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy to the extent permitted by law.
